Metabolic Syndrome

Weight loss/gain

Contrary to popular belief, obesity for the most part does not result simply from overeating and lack of exercise. Weight issues are now understood as a function of underlying problems which, when corrected, will dissolve by themselves and weight will return to normal.

Many overweight people fight hard to lose the excess pounds. Diets don't work in the long run because they don't address the underlying issues and as a result you regain your loss as soon as you stop the diet.

Weight gain can indicate various conditions. There may be a toxic load (from mercury, heavy metals, candida and others), in which case to protect itself the body seals these toxins within fat cells and no amount of dieting will make it release.

First we need to tease apart the probable reasons for your weight gain. Subsequently, we will work with nutrition and functional foods to rebalance of your metabolism. As result, you will lose weight, feel better and have more energy.

Heart & circulation

Heart disease is the #1 cause of death in the US. Yet, aside from inherited tendencies, heart disease is both very preventable and reversible.

Heredity, lifestyle, stress and eating habits are factors in heart and circulation disorders like high blood pressure, atherosclerosis and Reynaud’s.

In the case of heart and circulation problems it is important to ask the right questions and have good laboratory data to answer them. Even if the causal factor is a genomic shortcoming, steps can be taken to compensate.

It is a proven fact that heart health, regardless of the origin of the problem, can be improved with appropriate nutrition, herbal remedies, simple exercise and a shift in life perspective

Hi/lo blood sugar & diabetes

When the body looses its ability to regulate blood sugar levels, after a period of blood sugar spikes and lows, a state of dysregulation sets in and blood sugar levels become either too high (diabetes) or too low (hypoglycemia).

Hypoglycemic symptoms include shakiness, irritability and confusion when meals are missed. Syndrome X or metabolic syndrome comprises insulin resistance plus a host of other problems including obesity, high cholesterol, inflammation and cardiovascular risk.

Type 2 diabetes develops from insulin resistance when there is plenty of insulin made by the pancreas but the cells of the body are resistant to its action. Diabetes can lead to organ and nerve damage.

Nutritional care of sugar dysregulation consists of a selective carbohydrate eating plan as well as herbs and supplements which improve blood sugar management.

We will look at additional factors or complications, such as obesity or heart conditions, and design a nutritional program to improve all these conditions.
It is possible to backtrack on this path and improve your health.
